Maeder, Singapore’s youngest Olympic medallist, landed around 6am and was greeted by about 50 enthusiastic supporters. Wearing his bronze medal from the Paris Olympics, he embraced family, posed for photos, signed autographs, and lifted young fans who had woken up as early as 4am to see their idol.
Among the well-wishers was Minister for Community, Culture, and Youth Edwin Tong, who presented Maeder with orchid garlands. Maeder expressed his gratitude for the warm reception, saying, "I’m overwhelmed by the support and thrilled that my efforts have made a positive impact."

One young fan, six-year-old Caleb Tan, skipped school to meet Maeder, holding a sign that read, "I skipped school to see Max Maeder." Maeder, in a heartwarming moment, hoisted Caleb onto his shoulders, leaving a lasting impression on the young boy and his mother, Wendy Tan.
Supporters like Afiq Azman, who learned about kitefoiling through Maeder’s success, and junior college student Bonnie, who admires Maeder's athleticism and philosophy, were among those who gathered to celebrate the young athlete’s return.
Maeder’s achievement marks a significant milestone for Singapore’s sailing scene, inspiring fans and fellow athletes alike.
