Police Investigating Viral Secondary School Bullying Incident in Singapore

SINGAPORE – Authorities have launched an investigation into a bullying incident involving a group of secondary school students, after a 2023 video depicting the event went viral on social media. The video, originally posted on TikTok on Sept. 15, showed a group of teenagers allegedly from Bukit View Secondary School taunting a fellow student.

In the video, which garnered nearly 600,000 views before being taken down, at least five students, wearing school uniforms, surround a smaller peer at the void deck of a Housing Board flat. The victim, wearing shorts and carrying a backpack, is mocked by the group before one student grabs his backpack and kicks him, causing him to fall.

Responding to inquiries, Bukit View Secondary School principal Jaswant Singh confirmed that the incident occurred in October 2023 outside the school's premises and was not reported at the time. Following the video's circulation, the school immediately checked on the victim, who did not report any injuries. The principal assured that the school takes such behavior seriously, promising to counsel the involved students and implement appropriate disciplinary measures.

The victim’s parents have since lodged a police report, with the police confirming the case is under investigation.
