StarHub broadband service disrupted in many areas across Singapore
SINGAPORE: On the evening of August 20, StarHub customers across various parts of Singapore experienced significant disruptions to their broadband and TV+ services. Many reported issues with intermittent connectivity, while some faced complete outages.
According to Downdetector, more than 7,000 outage reports were registered by 8:30 PM. The affected areas included Boon Lay, Jurong, Bukit Batok, Pasir Ris, Tampines, Hougang, Woodlands, Punggol, and several others. Users reported issues starting as early as 5:30 PM.
In a Facebook update around 8:00 PM, StarHub acknowledged the disruptions and assured customers that they were working to resolve the problem. By 9:15 PM, the telco announced it had rerouted traffic, and services were beginning to come back online progressively. They advised users to reboot their routers if they were still experiencing issues.
StarHub later confirmed that the disruption was due to problems with their DNS servers, which were subsequently resolved. However, as of Wednesday morning, some customers continued to report connection problems despite following the recommended troubleshooting steps.
StarHub has apologized for the inconvenience and is working to fully restore services. The company has not yet provided an estimate for when all issues will be resolved.
